The foam recycling process is relatively simple, and can leverage a city’s existing curbside recycling infrastructure.
Residents place foam in the same containers as their other recyclables.
The materials are collected curbside by a recycling truck.
The recyclables are delivered to a sorting facility, or material recovery facility (MRF).
The MRF sells the foam material on the open market.
A reclaimer purchases the sorted foam and recycles it into pellets that are used to make new products.
